FAQs

WHAT IS FILMMAKER ALLIANCE AND WHAT HAS IT DONE?

FILMMAKERS ALLIANCE is a membership-based community of film artists dedicated to the advancement of true independent film.

FA is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization. FA provides a unique mutual support system through which members share time, energy, expertise, equipment and, most importantly, creative support for one another's film projects from concept through distribution. We work together to restore humanity, authenticity, diversity, originality, intelligence, relevance, personal vision and emotional resonance to American Cinema.

Filmmakers Alliance has been operating in and serving the Los Angeles filmmaking community since 1993.  As a result of many evolutionary changes, we are now launching our Global Initiative, which can be defined  simply as the support and empowerment of filmmakers at every stage in their creative growth and through every stage of the filmmaking process using a web-based system of support. Additionally, this support and empowerment will be seeded with an aesthetic and social perspective that challenges filmmakers to create truly meaningful media.

In Los Angeles, members meet every other month to discuss current productions, and activities as well as allow members to solicit  project support. Other current activities include:

  1. Membership Productions

  2. Filmmaking Grants

  3. Screenings

  4. Seminars and Workshops

  5. Writers Workshops

  6. Development Labs

  7. Creative Challenges

  8. Table Readings

  9. Discussion Forums

  10. Production Equipment Rental

  11. FA Magazine

  12. VisionFest

"Why Support Filmmakers Alliance?

Filmmaking is complicated.

And making a film that truly harnesses the power of cinema is even more difficult.

YOU can help make it easier.

At Filmmakers Alliance, we’ve been empowering filmmakers since 1993. Not just to make films, but to make films that realize their full potential. But we haven’t done it alone. We need YOUR help.

Help us help filmmakers make films that matter!

Dear Friends Of Filmmakers Alliance,

Now more than ever, we very much need your support at any level. That means $1, $10, $100, $1000 or any other amount that works for you. Filmmakers Alliance is doing its part to keep Independent Film alive, vibrant and relevant. Your support will do its part to keep FA alive so that it can do all that it does.

Many of you think we'll do just fine without your support. We indeed always seem to land on our feet, but it isn't without a LOT of hard work. And in today's economic climate, even a ton of hard work can't guarantee a positive outcome. So, your individual support is more important than ever!
